Take some "me" time

Why fruits and veggies in your face mask?

8 DIY vegan face masks for glowing skin

Our Gift To You:

Take Some "Me" Time

A fantastic way to do that is to treat yourself to a face mask and a cup of tea every once and a while. Not only will you feel pampered and rejuvenated, but it forces you to sit still for 5-15 minutes while the mask does its magic. Taking the time to do a face mask is, in itself, an act of self-love. The relaxation and revitalized skin is just an added benefit.

Save a few hundred bucks and smear these all-natural fruit and veggie blends onto your face for a brighter, cleaner glow.

Why fruits and veggies in a face mask?

You should not put anything on your skin that you wouldn't eat. After your skin absorbs a chemical, it is processed by the body through the liver. Ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil, and other naturally occurring substances help to nourish the skin while synthetic fragrances and chemicals strain the body.

Try these 8 face masks during your daily "me time" or as a family-fun activity at home and see glowing results. Don't forget to put chilled cucumber slices over your eyes!

8 DIY vegan face masks for glowing skin

1. Soothing and collagen-producing banana face mask

Leave on for 5-15 minutes

1 ripe banana

½ a cup of cooked oats

¼ teaspoon of cinnamon

a squirt of lemon

Why it's good for your skin: Vitamin A in bananas promotes skin-cell turnover, while oats gently soothe any irritation. Cinnamon is a strong antioxidant and has been shown to promote collagen production. Never throw away your overripe bananas again!

2. Moisturizing and even-complexion avocado face mask

Leave on for 5-10 minutes

½ a mashed avocado

½ teaspoon of lemon juice

½ teaspoon of lemon zest

Why it's good for your skin: While mashed avocados moisturize and promote regeneration, lemons powerful Vitamin C content firms and tightens skin. Never throw away old avocados again!

3. Banana turmeric natural glow face mask

Leave on for 5-8 minutes

1 ripe banana

¼ teaspoon of turmeric

Why it's good for your skin: While Vitamin A in the banana helps to keep pores clean, turmeric acts as a powerful antioxidant to give you supple skin and a healthy glow. Never throw away overripe bananas again!

4. Detoxifying chia apple cider vinegar face mask

Leave on for 5 minutes

1 ½ tablespoon of chia seeds soaked in 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar overnight

Why it's good for you: Although it may not smell as sweet as some of the other masks, This apple cider vinegar chia mask will moisturize while it detoxifies your skin.

5. Vitamin C face mask

Leave on for 5-15 minutes

⅓ a cup of mashed and steamed carrots or sweet potato, 1 teaspoon of orange peel

Why it's good for you: Vitamin C helps to promote collagen production and protects against sun damage.

6. Refreshing cucumber lemon face mask

Leave on for 5-15 minutes

¼ a pureed cucumber

½ a mashed avocado

¼ teaspoon of lemon juice

Why it's good for your skin: The Vitamin E from the cucumber works alongside the natural oils from the avocado, and Vitamin C from the lemon to create a cooling, damage repairing mask that will promote a soothing glow. Never throw away old avocados again!

7. Revitalizing oatmeal coffee face mask

Leave on for 5-15 minutes

½ cup of cooked oats

¼ teaspoon of cinnamon

½ teaspoon of coffee grounds

Why it's good for your skin: The caffeine from the coffee and then collagen promoting properties from the cinnamon work together to create a mask that will bring your skin back to life. The coffee grounds make a gentle exfoliant for weekly use.

8. Hydrating flaxseed face mask

Leave on for 3-5 minutes

1 teaspoon of ground flaxseed

1 Tablespoon of warm water.

Let sit for 10 minutes before rubbing onto your face.

Why it's good for your skin: Flaxseed contains omega-3s that hydrate skin and leave you with a glowing finish.
